Concepts: Knotted mom is derived from the scarf that my mom sent me. It represents love and care from a distance. The love then transform into a gesture of hug and it becomes a platform to hold two sculptures that I made. My relationship with my mom is subtle. We don’t explicit express our love but we innately support each other (like the arms in my sculpture).
I’m now far away from home and her image is becoming vogue. The crashed candy on the top of my sculpture represent sweetness of my relationship with mom. And also makes the whole structure subtle and act as a metaphor for memories covered with dust. Living along in an unfamiliar country, the old relationship is fading away and I now live in a vacuum. I have to build all the attachments on my own now.

Growing up in a Chinese urban center, my sister and I lived in an apartment building among the skyscrapers and played in the urban parks. Many people pressure boys to feel as if they should not put much care into their outfits, as if they do, they might be labeled “fragile” or “girly”. But I think there is nothing wrong with that. Boys are not only meant to do hardcore work, and being fabulous doesn’t relate to gender. Size: Width (cm) 61 Length (cm) 5 Height (cm) 51 Weight 3kg
