Concepts: The concept of this project is trying to connect myself with my Chinese roots as I find new respect and love for the city I grew up in, Beijing, behind a simple film camera.
This work significantly mark a new perspective for me, growing up always feeling not being able to belong to one certain environment. The work demonstrates the home I found within myself and by giving love to the subject I photography, I am able to create the concept of home simply by giving love without judgments or definitions.

By presenting basic human needs for love, family, company, life and material in the context of intimate loss, Cheng wonders how death transmutes our appreciation of life.
